Put on your comfortable shoes and set aside a few hours to walk this cemetary. Very rich in history with the final resting place of some famous people. There's ma map of the cemetary inside take a photo of that and don't waste the 2 euros on the one being sold outside. Everything is clearly marked and easy to follow. It's very quiet and peaceful with a few crows cawing yoy may even see a few cats roaming around.

Pere Lachaise tour doesn't disappoint

There is so much to see that 2 hrs. is simply not enough time. Our guide, Alberto, has been doing tours for over 10 years and has incredible knowledge of the cemetery. We had a small group (4 people), so the attention received may have been greater than normal. The stories and history behind many of the graves was explained well, and we walked away with a deeper understanding of the cemetery.

My only rub is how to navigate through the cemetery. There are many twists and turns - you start at the top of a hill (basically) and work your way down slowly. If you have trouble navigating small spaces (in between graves), just be mindful of this.

The best guide

We had a great tour because of our awesome personal guide Jade. He is the best.

Although it was raining cats and dogs he made it very special!

Thank you Jade! Cheers Scherriel, Madeleine and Renate
