We needed a “vintage car”… When we saw this “TD” we thought “there she is”!!! She is beautifully “off-the-wall” with its oil can on the running board, its brass horn, its tilting windshield with “brooklands” aero-screens, but it’s a real sports car with its 1800cc engine… … In the middle of the anonymous modern cars flow the MG “TD” causes a real sensation, it’s a real head turner, and the children’s favorite!!! It has indeed all the attributes of an authentic “vintage racer” from the heroic era of the beginning of car racing… But on the mechanical side it is much more contemporary… Its 1800cc engine borrowed from a “modern” MG “B” (and well fed by two double-barrel SU carbs) produces almost 100 bhp!!! This is more than enough to catapult its 650 kilos from a turn to another, our MG “TD” is a blast to drive and it has swallowed the 850 kilometers of the last Jean Behra rally with lots of appetite!!! Despite its “extreme” look the MG “TD” is a very easy car to drive, the chassis is excellent and the road holding is spotless, the steering is direct and precise, the brakes are also very good and the bucket seats really comfortable. Actually after 10/15 minutes of “acclimatation” one finds back true racing sensations and this without really driving at unreasonable speed. On the practical side: The MG “TD” is a “rustic” car but it has a very nice alpaga cover, a good heater and seat belts front and back… Because it has two small seats in the back for children !!!
